Reading Log discussion question # 3

Welcome back students. Sorry for the delay, but all technical issues have been handled!

Here is your question for the week of April 11-15th: What is the most memorable book you have read since Christmas break? If it is memorable, you'll want to tinclude two examples from the text and give me detailed descriptions of your feelings and thoughts.

example: Since the Christmas break, the most memorable book I have read is "The Book of Basketball" by Bill Simmons. It is a non-fiction book written about the greatest NBA players and how they measure up against one another. The author uses opinions from many sources, as well as statistics to back up his arguments about who the best players of all-time are. The book is memorable because I love the style in which the author writes (very funny guy), and even when I disagree with some of his picks about who the greatest players of all time are, I still like the arguments he makes for each one of them. It is a great source of information for any basketball fan, and I know I can always go back and read parts of it again just for a good laugh or some information.

  1. the book that was memorable for me was called THE UNDERNEATH by Kathi Appelt. i have two most memorable parts. the first part is how sad it is. the momma cat dies and it is amazing how she is brave (your going to have to read to find out how she dies). the second part that is memorable is when ranger the bloodhound dog is chained to a tree and his kitty companions Puck and Sabine are by him when they incounter a snake these are the exact words in the book when that happend, "the snake looked again at the threesome infront of her. three bound by love. yes she thought, i know a thing or two about love, and with that she opend her steel thap jaws and struck." and that unfortunatly that is where my mom made me turn out the lights! the next day i found out that the snake had bit the CHAIN and snapped it!! :)

  4. The most memorable book I read is Goosebump Horrorland revenge of The Living Dummy. I (Britney Crosby) has copper colored hair, and 12 years old. I am friends with Molly Molloy. She is just like each other. They live in the same block. I was so frighten at the end when britney loses her parents. when she goes to their room she finds a picture of a blurry slappy. I was so scared I could't go to sleep after that.

  5. A book that was memorable to me is Benny and Omar. It is a book about Benny, a boy that really loves hurling has to move to a place in Tunisia because of his dad's job. One part that I won't forget is when Benny first meets Omar and talks English...He learned English from TV shows. Benny struggles to talk with him but it is a bit funny. At the end there is a typhoon and Benny and Omar are on the streets because they ran away from home. The sad thing is that everyone thought that Omar drowned until Omar's sister turns up with the necklace Benny gave Omar and Omar was wearing it when he "drowned". However, At the end the author doesn't tell you if Omar is alive or not. I don't like finishing a book with a big question in my head. The author also adds a lot of humor and sadness.

  7. Since the Christmas break, the most memorable book I've read is "The Lost Hero" by Rick Riordan". It is a Fiction book about 3 kids (Jason Leo Piper) who find out that they are half-bloods (son/daughter of gods) and go on a quest and almost die several times in the quest. This book makes me think of "scary" movies where people come so close to dying in some type of way. I know that whenever I am bored I always have a great book to read.

  9. Since Christmas break, the most memorable book that I read was "The Meanest Doll in the World." It is by Ann M. Martin and Laura Goodwin. I really loved when all the dolls were in battle against the meanest doll in the world. The nice dolls had to stop the meanest doll in the world or else the meanest doll will rule all the dolls. My second favorite part is when the nice dolls are putting traps to trap the meanest doll in the world. It was a page turner and I couldn't wait to find what happened on the next page. There are 3 books in the series.

The most memorable book I have read since Christmas break is Hugo Cabret. In Hugo Cabret it's basically to long to explain, so I will just cut to the chase, in this book Hugo goes a pain filled journey to figure out the answers to all of his questions. Tear filed eyes along the way he finds most of the answers he was looking for. He finds some new friends along the way and makes new enemies. He ends up fixing and invent new objects hard to imagine in the real world. You should totally read this book, here is one quote from this book, " I have another job, but I'll come here when I can." " You begin tomorrow." said the old man, and Hugo ran off the empty hallway, careful not to click his shoe heels on the stone floor. Read the Book!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously read it!!!!!!!

  18. Since you (Mr.Dickson) forgot to post the new question, I have made up my own. William Moll reminds me of the giant spider "Aragog" that scares my dad. They both are as large as your room, big, and furry. That is William's resemblence to "Aragog".
