This week we began talking about how to compare and contrast. We used "The Witches and "The Twits" and talked about how they are similar, and how they are different. Just like last weeks assignment when you took an example from your book that showed cause and effect, now you are going to do the same with compare and contrast. I want you to compare and contrast two characters in your book and tell me three things that are similar about them and three things that are different.

The book I am reading is called Socks by Beverly Cleary. I am comparing and contrasting George ands Debbie. In the story Debbie was very worried the the cats would never find a nice, soothing home, but George was very relaxed about it. When George was very rough with the kittens and Debbie was very gentle with them. When they were trying to sell them Debbie yelled out "CATS FOR SALE!" and Georgge was very embarassed about it. They are the same by them being related, they both want to sell all the cats, and they do not want to sell their cats to a rambunctions group of kids.

The book I will compare and contrast two characters in is Fear Street Truth or Dare by R.L.Stine. The two people I will compare and contrast are Dara and April. Dara and April are different because Dara is rich and owns a jeep,a limo,and a ski lodge while April is poor and owns a small car and a small house. they are also different because Dara gets killed with a hatchet while freezing and April doesn't get killed. Another reason they are different is because Dara dates a guy for a while and then dumps him and April doesn't have a boy friend . Dara and April are similar because they both get stuck in Dara's ski lodge with a murder inside the lodge. Another reason they are similar is they both don't have a parent while trapped inside the ski lodge.My final reason they are similar is because they both like gross and embarrassing truths while playing truth or dare. Those are three reasons why Dara and April are similar and different.
ReplyDeleteHugo is diffrent from his dad because hugo fixed more things and fixed clocks more time though his dad saved a machine from a fire and pased it on to Hugo.There the same because they both fixed clocks and liked movies.

ReplyDeleteSimilarities: They're both in the Parker family, they both like to fight, they fight on sight(means they immediatly fight when they happen upon each other), and their loyalties are parallel.
Differences: They have different days of birth, Henry is stronger, and they have different reasoning for stratigey(when they meat Beanpole one wanted to push forward while one wanted to camp).
The book that I am reading is "Wild Life" by Cynthia DeFELICE. The two characters I will compare and contrast are Erik the 12 year old boy and Oma Erik's grandma. When talking to Big Darrell Oma has more patience and kind words for him. Erik can't put up with him and talks back. Erik bends the rules. For example he kept the dog and ran away. On the other hand Oma sticks and plays by the rules. Erik is sarcastic and has a sence of humor. Oma isn't that sarcastic. They are also alike because they both stand up to Big Darrell. Also they both get attched to things. For example Oma is attached to her son Dan and after he died she only said his name a couple of times. Erik got attached to Quill the dog. Erik and Oma care about the dog very much, like enough to keep it. Oma just doesn't want to admit it to Big Darrell. That is the end of my book "Wild Life".
ReplyDeleteIn my book The Homework Machine, written by Dan Gutman I will tell you about Judy Douglas, and Brenton Damagatchi. They are both extra smart, They are both straight A students, and They are both in G and T. However Judy thinks that The Homework Machine (Belch) is a bad idea, but Brenton made it up. Brenton likes chess, and Judy doesn't. Judy is starting to think that she should start doing her homework on her own agin, but Brenton has been doing it for two years now, and he is stuck on it like a human and a cigar. He just can't gat away from it.

The book I am currently reading is The Last Olympian
ReplyDeleteby Rick Riorden.The two people I am going to compare and contrast are Percy Jackson and Nico Angelo.The first similarity is that they are both half-bloods.They both live at Camp Half-Blood.Last but not least they are both children of one of the Big Three.One of the differences is their godly parent.Percy's dad is Poesiden and Nico's dad is Hades.Another difference is their personality.Nico acts gloomy and serious all the time.Percy on the other hand is more easy going and fun.The last difference is their power.Nico can talk to and raise the dead.Percy can control water.I choose this book because Rick Riorden is a great author and I would like you to read this book.It is the fifth and final book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Their differences are Percy is a boy, he was son of Posidon, and he used a sword. Annabeth is a girl, she was daughter of Athena, and she used a knife.
ReplyDeleteThe book I am reading is "Spellbound" by Jaquline west. The two charectars I want to compare and contrast are Olive and Rutherford. Olive is the new girl in town and is studing a spellbook she found inside of one of the mystrious paintings. Rutherford is a young boy who is Olive's next door negihbor and enjoys studing dinosaurs. First I am going to show the similarities between the two and then the differences.
ReplyDeleteThe similarities between olive and Rutherford are, olive and Rutherford are both very interested in the houses mystery, They both have a commentment to helping the houses trobles, and Olive and Rutherford are both very good at keeping secrets.
The differences between Olive and Rutherford are, olive is interested in the house and Rutherford is interested in dinosaurs. Olive has completely commeted to helping the house but Rutherford is just helping a little. Olive lives with her parents and Rutherford lives with his grandmother.
This concludes that olive and Rutherford have similarities but they also have differences. Many of the similarities and differences have to do with the house and its secret.

I am reading Supernatural by L.J. Smith.I noticed similar things and differences through out the book.There is a girl named Becky who tries to find her history book for her history class,then sees this weird shadow,later on she finds out it was a girl who died through out the school years.Becky has brown hair,the ghost has blond hair,The ghost has scars all over her face,Becky has no scars on her face,the ghost likes plain colors,Becky likes colorful neon colors.

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling A.K.A "the queen". I am comparing Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory. Three things the have in common are; they are both captain AND seeker for the quidditch team, also they are both in the Triwizard tournament. Three things that are different are Cedreic Dies, Harry doesn't but comes close. Harry is in Griffindor, Cedric is in Hufflepuff. Harry likes Cho Chang but Cho is Cedrics Girlfriend.
